Chapter 7 - Debt Relief

  • Promotes a fresh start
  • Discharges most personal debts, including credit card debt and medical bills
  • Stops lawsuits and creditor calls
  • Stops foreclosure and repossessions

A Chapter 7 is known as a "liquidation" bankruptcy case. A Chapter 7 case discharges debts, such as credit cards, medical bills, unsecured loans, loan companies and monies owed on repossessed vehicles. For debts secured by collateral like a house or vehicle, you may keep the collateral by continuing to make monthly payments or you can surrender the collateral and discharge the debt. You are allowed to exempt or protect much of your property. We can advise you on whether your property is exempt or protected. At the end of the case (about 3 months) you should receive a discharge order from the Court which discharges most debts.
